Geocache Description:

06 April 2019, 08:30 - 12:00

Come out to support one of the the City of Albuquerque Open Space Foothills Spring Cleanup days!

Foothills Cleanup days this year are:
March 30 – Rt. 66 Open Space
April 6 – Copper Trailhead
April 13 – Indian School Trailhead
April 20 – Menaul Picnic Area
April 27 – Piedra Lisa Open Space

This CITO event and each cleanup day runs from 8:30 to noon. For the coming Saturdays more accompanying CITO events will be published (except 30 March). If you want to host one, let me know and I'll put you in contact with Jim Sattler, Assistant Open Space Superintendent, to confirm.

Be sure to sign the liability waiver when you arrive. We usually wrap up before noon but don't worry if you can't come the entire time they've allotted. Any time you can spend helps! Still, the winner of the weirdest trash contest and drawings for prizes happen at the end.

Garbage bags, grabbers, a few buckets, snacks, and some water will be provided. I will bring non-latex plastic gloves if needed. Bring extra water and gloves if you want them. Sun protection and closed-toe footwear are a must as there are no shade trees but cacti and other thorny plants abound.

Besides trash pick up, there will be trail construction and rehabilitation, re-vegetation, and graffiti removal projects for all ages and abilities.

Parking at the east end of Copper Avenue is limited, so carpooling is encouraged!

Of course all logging attendees will earn the Cache In Trash Out® CITO 2019 Season 1 souvenir!
