FOOT TRAFFIC ONLY YOU SHOULD HAVE STRONG SIGNAL IF YOU ARE WITHIN 50 FEET OF THE CACHE ON THE UPLAND SIDE OF THE TRAIL.
Foot traffic only from this entry. An alternate entry from Victor cutoff road is suitable for bike ride but parking in not available and entrance can be hard to find. The trail head is located on the west side of the road across from the public access to CARNEY lake near the Kitsap/Mason county line. The trail is well used although in some places rather brushy.The walk is 1.2 miles one way and has some nice up and down especially up on the way out. Wear good supporting footwear, long sleeve shirt. Take a picnic lunch and water. The last time I visited here was in 1995. THE WATER IS CLEAR ENOUGH TO READ THE DATE ON A DIME IN 10 FEET OF WATER. The Log cabin is now gone, and party goers have left a pile of trash in the clearing where the cabin once stood. Fishing is catch and release and you can expect 3 - 4 pound trout as the norm. Powerbait is best with flies next. Forget using any other bait or lure, they do not work here.
When you cross the creek on the plank bridge, the trail turns into what is almost a road. from here you can access the cache two ways. Follow the "road" keeping to the right, or you can take the first side trail to the right and buck brush for 150 yards. The first is longest but easiest. On the way in, look for the benchmark at 42°24.212N / 122°46.152W
it is on the side of the trail and presents a tripping hazard. The cache is a 1/2 gal plastic container covered in black plastic bag, located about 9 feet off the trail.
