Scouting Builds Ethics and Character
As youth, Scouts are taught to live by a code of conduct exemplified in the 12 points of the Scout Law, and they continue to live by these laws in adulthood. The Scout Law has 12 points. Each is a goal for every Scout. A Scout tries to live up to the Law every day. It is not always easy to do, but a Scout always tries.
A Scout is…
TRUSTWORTHY
LOYAL
HELPFUL
FRIENDLY
COURTEOUS
KIND
OBEDIENT
CHEERFUL
THRIFTY
BRAVE
CLEAN
REVERENT
Eagle Scout is the highest rank that a scout can earn. Earning the rank of Eagle Scout requires a scout to plan, lead, and complete a community service project. Each Geocache in this series will take you to a different Eagle Scout project that was completed by a local scout. My father and I are both very involved in scouts as well as being avid geocachers. I myself am an eagle scout. We wanted to create a series that honored many of my friends and fellow eagle scouts.
This cache is the second of the series and represents the Second Point of the Scout Law…LOYAL. This cache is placed to honor a local scout from Troop 208. He designed, built, and installed the trail markers to guide hikers from Gene Shepard Park to Yates Cider Mill.
In order to find the coordinates for the final cache you will need to use two basic scout skills...Orienteering and Hiking. ORIENTEERING: From the posted coordinates for this cache you will need to go 15 paces in the direction of 309 degrees to find the coordinates for the final cache.
We hope you enjoy this series as much as we did in creating it. We hope to challenge and entertain you in the process. Please respect the area and other visitors. Please return the final cache container to exactly the same position that you found it. Placed with permission of the Shelby Township Parks and Recreation Department.
