Scouting Builds Ethics and Character
As youth, Scouts are taught to live by a code of conduct exemplified in the 12 points of the Scout Law, and they continue to live by these laws in adulthood. The Scout Law has 12 points. Each is a goal for every Scout. A Scout tries to live up to the Law every day. It is not always easy to do, but a Scout always tries.
A Scout is…
TRUSTWORTHY
LOYAL
HELPFUL
FRIENDLY
COURTEOUS
KIND
OBEDIENT
CHEERFUL
THRIFTY
BRAVE
CLEAN
REVERENT
Eagle Scout is the highest rank that a scout can earn. Earning the rank of Eagle Scout requires a scout to plan, lead, and complete a community service project. Each Geocache in this series will take you to a different Eagle Scout project that was completed by a local scout. My father and I are both very involved in scouts as well as being avid geocachers. I myself am an eagle scout. We wanted to create a series that honored many of my friends and fellow eagle scouts.
This cache is the third of the series and represents the Third Point of the Scout Law…HELPFUL. This cache is placed in honor of an Eagle Scout Project of a scout from Troop 208 who purchased and installed the trail markers along the hiking trails of River Bends Park. He also hauled gravel in to firm up the trail in several wet spots.
The coordinates of the First cache are N 42 39.ABC W 083 03.XYZ. To solve the puzzle you will need to answer the following questions when you arrive at the posted coordinates:
A = The number of yellow trail signs at this location.
B = The number of green trail markers at this location PLUS 2.
C = Submit the first number from the second number at the top (of the front)of the yellow trail marker.
X = The number of stickers with a single arrow on the front of the yellow trail marker PLUS 2.
Y = The total number of stickers on the front of the yellow trail marker PLUS 1.
Z = The number of brown stickers on the front of the yellow trail marker at this location.
We hope you enjoy this series as much as we did in creating it. We hope to challenge and entertain you in the process. Please respect the area and other visitors. Please replace the cache container exactly as you find it. This cache placed with permission of the Shelby Township Parks and Recreation Department.
