Scouting Builds Ethics and Character
As youth, Scouts are taught to live by a code of conduct exemplified in the 12 points of the Scout Law, and they continue to live by these laws in adulthood. The Scout Law has 12 points. Each is a goal for every Scout. A Scout tries to live up to the Law every day. It is not always easy to do, but a Scout always tries.
A Scout is…
TRUSTWORTHY
LOYAL
HELPFUL
FRIENDLY
COURTEOUS
KIND
OBEDIENT
CHEERFUL
THRIFTY
BRAVE
CLEAN
REVERENT
Eagle Scout is the highest rank that a scout can earn. Earning the rank of Eagle Scout requires a scout to plan, lead, and complete a community service project. Each Geocache in this series will take you to a different Eagle Scout project that was completed by a local scout. My father and I are both very involved in scouts as well as being avid geocachers. I myself am an eagle scout. We wanted to create a series that honored many of my friends and fellow eagle scouts. Many of these projects we personally worked on to help these scouts finish their project.
This cache is the fourth of the series and represents the Fourth Point of the Scout Law…FRIENDLY. This cache is placed in honor of the Eagle Scout Project of a scout from Troop 208 who rebuilt and installed the archery targets at the shooting range of River Bends Park. The posted coordinates will take you to this location. This cache was placed with permission of the Shelby Township Parks and Recreation Department.
The coordinates of the First cache location are N 42 38.ABC W 083 03.XYZ. To solve the puzzle you will need to answer the following questions when you arrive at the posted coordinates:
A = The number of benches plus the number of targets at 30 yards.
B = The number of targets at 75 yards.
C = The number of targets at a distance of 30 yards.
X = The number of targets at a distance of 15 yards plus number of targets at 50 yards.
Y = The number on targets at 20 yards plus the number at 50 yards.
Z = The number of targets at 40 yards x2 plus the number of targets at 50 yards.
We hope you enjoy this series as much as we did in creating it. We hope to challenge and entertain you in the process. Please respect the area and other visitors.
