Geocache Description:

Einigkeit means unity in German. The Evangelical Lutherisch Einigkeit (Unity) Congregation of Wolf Creek was organized in 1890 by pastor John F. Doescher. In 1923 the most recent church structure was built at this site and cost a total of $6,522.48 . The completed wooden structure was 42x28ft and approximately 40ft high. Closing services were held here June 29th 1997. The church structure was moved to the Menno Pioneer Heritage site on the north side of Menno where it can still be seen today.

My family attended here up until the churched closed in '97. The church did not have running water so members would bring 5 gallon buckets of water from home to make coffee for events. My mom often speaks of an incident when I had been playing outside with toads as a young boy and came in to wash my hands. The water bucket was at the perfect height to wash hands and I did as any good boy should before eating. One of the fellow parishioners witnessed the hand washing, but it wasn't until years later that my mom was told of the day we all had that special toad water coffee!
