Yellow Bug: It is with a great deal of sorrow that the cache must be archived. I just learned that there is a $2,000.00 fine for entering the area. A loss for Geocaching, but a bigger loss for Hawaii.

Travel East out of Waimea for about 3.4 miles to White Road. Turn left and park at the end of the road N 20º 02.756 W 155º 37.439. Set out on this adventure at the gate, about 2,750', and follow the road. You will encounter another gate about half way to where the roads ends. You will cross over the flume at waypoint N 20º 03.346 W 155º 37.513 Turn left and follow the trail to the cache.
The cache is not as important as the trek to it. This trek is a feast for the eyes. There are times when the fragrance from ginger blossoms is incredible. After a wonderful hike along the flume and through the rain forest, you step out of the trees (3,005") to a magnificent vista of waterfalls and the Waipìo Valley some 1,820’ feet below. If you decide to continue further on the trail, you will reach the headwaters of the valley with magnificent vistas to the ocean. This trek is a must and should not be missed by locals or visitors. Expect mist, rain and mud, so wear good hiking boots and dress accordingly. The trail from where you park to the cache is about 1.77 miles. Continue about 250' up the trail from the cache and there is a nice small cave on the left. Have a great time. Aloha

NOTE: Please make sure the lid is on tight. The area can receive as much as 150 " of rain each year.
