There's little wonder that sooner or later, a name of a road in Lanark County, also known as "The Maple Syrup Capital of Ontario" would be renamed "Sugar Bush Road". (Previously known as 6th Concession of Pakenham-Mississippi Mills)
Sugar maples (Acer saccharum) abound in this area and the trees are being "tapped" for sap. I didn't spot any tapping lines on the trees along this road but I'm pretty sure that the locals are tapping their own trees back in the "sugar bush".
Lanark County is a great place to go for a drive during any season, but Springtime brings out a special flavour, and the Fall is fantastic for the changing colours of these same trees.
