Golf ist ein Rasenspiel mit Hartgummiball und Schlägern, bei dem es gilt, den Ball mit möglichst wenig Schlägen in einzelne Löcher zu spielen. Was wie ein gemütlicher Spaziergang im Grünen aussieht, hat es in sich: auf einer kompletten Golfrunde legt ein Spieler durchschnittlich 8,5 km zurück. Bei einem korrekten Golfschlag werden 124 von insgesamt 434 Muskeln bewegt - ein Fitnesstraining von Kopf bis Fuß. Golf erfordert vom Sportler nicht nur Technik und Taktik, sondern auch Ausdauer und Konzentrationsfähigkeit. Die Ursprünge des Sports liegen - wie allgemein angenommen, aber nicht eindeutig nachweisbar - in Schottland.
