Ransomes & Rapier was a major British manufacturer of railway equipment and later cranes, from 1869 to 1987. Originally an offshoot of the major engineering company Ransome's it was based at Waterside Works in Ipswich, Suffolk.
This 62 tonne steam crane was retired from ANR in September 1980. It was transported from the workshops to Homestead Park Pioneer Museum to become the major attraction amongst other historic equipment.
Later Homestead Park closed and the crane was purchased by MAX Cranes and transported to where you see it near GZ.
