The New Sweden Little Free Library is one of the largest Little Free Libraries in Maine. Nancy Holmquist Roble, a retired school teacher, was determined to find a useful home for the books she purchased for her classroom. The idea for a Little Free Library in New Sweden was born.
When the New Sweden School was closed, she got permission to remove books from the school to add to her book collection. She reached out to others and more books were donated. The collection has grown to include books for all ages and genres.
The library resembles the former New Sweden School and is built in a style similar to buildings in Sweden. The library is representative of the New Sweden Community and is open to everyone.
