The cache is located at the Le Tronchet shelter half way up the hiking path to the Gr St-Bernard monastary. This refuge was built in 1917 and is an emergency shelter. The cache can be found all year round.
The pass is usually closed from Oktober till May for motorized traffic and can only be reached with skies or snowshoes during this time. Please make sure you bring the appropriate avalanche gear in winter. This is an avalanche prone area.
