Geocache Description:

Eglinton Park is a wonderful place to visit with a great variety of things to do, from walking, fishing, horse riding, camping and a childrens play area.

The park itself is located in the grounds of the old Eglinton Castle estate, near Kilwinning in Ayrshire. It covers an area of 400 hectares, its central iconic feature is the ruined castle building. This was once home to the Eglinton family and later the Montgomeries, Earls of Eglinton and chiefs of the Clan Montgomery.

There is a variety of woodland and open countryside walks which will take you through the park taking in the old ruins of the estate, castle and the loch and you may get the opportunity to spot some of the wildlife. The park offers lots of places for the family to enjoy a picnic, and if you don't have your own picnic there is the Tournament Cafe available for teas, coffees and snacks. There is also a Visitors Centre with plenty of details of the park and a list of all future events in the park organised by the park Rangers.

Eglinton Country Park is managed and maintained by the North Ayrshire Council Ranger Service.
