Geocache Description:

This is part of a series of Iconic Tulsa Landmarks (ITL).  Anyone who has driven down this section of Route 66 or its previous home just West of here, no doubt has seen this giant neon sign as part of the skyline. Search for (ITL) or use the ITL bookmark to find others in this series.

The Beatrice Foods Co was formed in 1905 and it soon included the Meadow Gold brand.  In 1934 the sign was erected and stood for over 70 years at its original location until a car dealership started the process of buying the original building and tearing everything. The Tulsa Foundation for Architecture along with other groups was able to save the sign, eventually moving it to its present day location. As the largest neon sign on Tulsa's landscape, and possibly anywhere, the Meadow Gold sign is unique.  With each face measuring 30 feet by 30 feet, the size and design of the sign set it apart from all other sings along Route 66.

When visiting the site, please take your time and read the information kiosks for more of the history of the sign.
