Geocache Description:

The great hurricane of 1938 created this inlet. Before the hurricane, Dune road continued on to Southampton. The hurricane destroyed the road, but created the opportunity for the commercial fishing dock (to the west) and recreational boating. This inlet is beautiful, yet can be treacherous. Experienced boaters, commercial fishermen, and even a coastguard vessel have all capsized in this inlet. The County parking lot at the end of Dune Road is free all year round.
