Stone Soup is an folk story in which hungry strangers convince a town to share a small amount of food in order to make a meal that everyone enjoys, and exists as a moral regarding the value of sharing. Read on to find this geocache.
Travelers come to a village, carrying only an empty cooking pot. Upon their arrival, villagers are unwilling to share their food. The travelers go to a stream, fill the pot with water, drop a large STONE in it, and place it over a fire. A curious villager asks what they are doing. The travelers say they are making "STONE soup", which tastes wonderful and which they will share, although it needs garnish, which they are missing, to improve the flavor.
The villager, who anticipates enjoying the soup, parts with a few carrots to add to the soup. Another villager inquires about the pot, and the travelers again mention their STONE soup which has not yet reached its full potential. The villager hands them seasoning. More and more villagers walk by, each adding another ingredient. Finally, the STONE (being inedible) is removed from the pot, and a delicious pot of soup is enjoyed by all. Although the travelers tricked the villagers into sharing their food, they transformed it into a tasty meal which they share with the donors.
