Geocache Description:

Going under the pedestrian/railway track overpass across Helmken Rd., near the View Royal K-5 school, I had to do a double take.  Somehow, I had never noticed the picture of the train on it. Cool!  I thought I needed to bring more people here to discover it, by planting a cache nearby.            The E&N railfreight #3004 GP38 served as an internal shortline on Vancouver Island from 1996 until December 1998.  It traveled the 140 miles to Courtenay and 38 miles from Parksville to Pt. Alberni.  After that, it became a Rail America shortline in Coquitlam.  The # 3004 and 3005 GP38's were the only two units painted for E & N Railfreight. Unfortunately, my first attempt at placing this cache had me too close to a railway track. I thought the track was not being used, but apparently, although trains don't run on it, it is still a working track. A shame, since it was such a devious hide, I'm sure no one would have ever found it! ;-) !! So, I moved it within regulatory specifications, where you can still see the overpass, or use the goose there.

CONGRATS Ms. Alpha, on FTF!! It was a long time in the making - nice to see that FTF!
