Welcome to the QOGM 2019 multi-day Experience
QOGM is the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster, an annual outback geocaching experience.
In 2019, it will be centred around Blackall - "Beyond the Black Stump".
Commencing Thursday 3rd October 2018 and ending early Monday 7th October 2019.
A muster is the process of gathering livestock. Musters usually involve cattle, sheep or horses, but may also include goats, camels, buffalo or other animals.
So says the "Wiki".
Outback Central Queensland is just like that – we have cattle and sheep, horses and goats and even camels. That's in addition to our native animals - kangaroos, brolgas, emus, eagles, galahs, parrots, lizards, termites, and so on.
And our Blackall Region has a lot of geocaches. So what better way to round up a whole heap of sheep and cattle, er, geocaches, than to have a geocaching muster!
To kick the Muster off, you are invited to attend our Welcome to Country Ceremony on Friday October 4th 2019
This event will take place between 7.00am and 10.00am. It will be split into two parts:
It will start at 7.00am on the banks of our famous Barcoo River, near the free camp area.
There will be a Traditional welcome by a local indigenous representative, as well as a Regional Council welcome from the Mayor.
Then, after the Official Welcomes, this Event continues at the Blackall Showgrounds for a Council sponsored Breakfast. Thank you to the Blackall-Tambo Regional Council.
Visit the official detailed WEBSITE for REGISTRATION, with more details of camping, powered sites, hotel and motel accommodation, registration, swappables, meal arrangements, event itinerary, themed shirts and much, much more.
So we look forward to your inspiring 'Will Attends' here on this page.
Your "Will Attend", which is your intent to be at this Geocaching social gathering, will give the organisers an idea of numbers for gift and catering purposes.
So saddle up those horses, put your wide-brimmed hats on, and get yourselves along to kick off QOGM 2019 in style!
