"Osage Wind" Wind Farm
The wind farm that sets south of Shidler and east of Burbank in Osage county is known as Osage Wind having become operational in 2015. The 8,400 acre wind farm produces enough power for 45,000 homes. The wind farm was the subject of a Federal landmark case between the Developers of the wind farm and the Osage nation for violations of mineral mining. The tribe also believes the wind farms cause harm to its religious practices. The turbines can kill bald eagles, which are used for spiritual purposes.
The landmark decision from the 10th Circuit court of Federal Appeals cleared the way for the Osage Nation to recover damages from the operators of the contested wind farm in Oklahoma by a unanimous ruling.
