A CITO or Cache In Trash Out is chance for geocachers to give something back to the envoirment as we are sometimes accused of littering the countryside with plastic! By doing some kind of environmental initiative. This event is a litter pick and general clean up.
Please meet at the main entrance to the reserve just next to the Citroen Dealership on Kings Road at 09:30. Parking is available on Kings Road or maybe the superstore just a short walk up Kings Road.
By taking part in a CITO event during March , April or May 2019 you'll be able to earn a CITO souvenir on your profile.
The Reserve is on a south facing slope and is a popular site for butterflies and birds. Kestrels nest on or near the site each year and can often be seen hunting over the hillside.
Legend has it that there was a ferocious boar that lived in a wood on the outskirts of Bradford, and frequently drank from a well in the wood. The boar terrorized the populace and caused much damage to land and property; so much so that the Lord of the Manor offered a reward for anyone brave enough to slay the boar and bring its head to the Manor House. The Crest of the City of Bradford depicts a boar's head sat on top of a well. The legend of the boar originates from Mediaeval times and has become part of local folklore.
Children are welcomed but must be supervised by an adult.
Bags, gloves and litter pickers will be provided, though if you have your own please bring. All the bags will be collected by Bradford City Council.
