Wherigo to Never Forget
Eisenhower Park is one of the largest public spaces in the New York metropolitan area – even larger than Central Park.
Eisenhower Park first dedicated a memorial to those who died in World War II in 1947 and the memorials have been growing ever since. They include tributes to two groups of heroes of Nassau County residents: Veterans of all wars and Nassau County firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. In addition, the breathtaking 9/11 Memorial honoring the 344 Nassau County residents who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 is one of the largest memorials to the victims of the 9/11 attacks in the country. And there is still so much more to this special place.
This Wherigo will bring you on a tour of the memorials and ask you questions along the way, but it cannot possibly touch on all that deserves your attention. You are encouraged to explore while you travel from spot to spot.
DIRECTIONS & DETAILS: The posted coordinates are the first stage of the Wherigo. It takes about 20-30 minutes to complete. There should be plenty of parking. It is highly suggested you have a phone or tablet with internet access with you. The geocache location and hint are provided in the final stage of Wherigo. You'll need to bring a pen to sign the log.
