I've been working on the railroad .... Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible to be Unarchived.

Geocache Description:

My love of trains is recent, within the last 5 years. I came about it the long way. If you like trains and I run into you one day ask me. Hopefully I won’t bore you to tears.  Most chicks I know are like ewww dirty freight trains. But not me. Bring on the dirt and all the cool stuff that goes with freights. Like monikers, graffiti, history, hiking etc. count me in.

This cache will bring you to a Pennsylvania Railroad (knicknamed the Pennsy)over pass that is just 10 years shy of its 100th birthday. What freight people call a old spur line or RIP track runs underneath but is now abandoned. According to a map from 1929 I found it was called the "Frankford Road Branch". To me that is weird cause it never comes near Frankford Ave. and Technically this is the Juniata section.

Below is a link to the map that I found the name of the SPUR on and sites you can learn more about the Railroad's history.

I am leaving a FTF canvas photo magnet I made from of one of my fav pics of Billy Penn I took. I will tie it in a bag to the fence. Don't forget it !

If you would like to see a better a less damaged plaque there is an exact duplicate across the street.

No parking necessary here, just do Philly style and pull up on the curb wink If you aren't sure about that you can park in McDonalds across the street but be careful you don't wind up like frogger !  Log only bring pen !!
