Sanyi is known by its wood sculpture industry. The main street of the ART village, which consists of small businesses selling wood sculptures and handicrafts, leads to the Wood Sculpture Museum which you can visit for a small fee. Somewhere on the main street, you will find a set of stairs that go downhill and lead to an area where artists live and work. There are rows and rows of small buildings, some are workshops, some are coffee shops, some are B&Bs! As you walk, take in the sounds of electric saws and chiseling. Discover the many heart-warming statues and sculptures that depict human virtues. See if you can find a hidden pathway covered entirely by bamboos. And if you are lucky, you may be able to find a workshop open for your own wood carving experience.
