Geocache Description:

In 1836, European explorer Major Thomas Mitchell described the area where Lexton was eventually settled as a “valley of the finest description”.

There are Major Mitchell monuments located all over Victoria (and interstate). It would have been an amazing job to wander the land exploring and surveying it. In fact you may very well have found a cache at a few other monuments...

So keeping with that tradition I thought a cache here was important to highlight a fantastic piece of history.
