A long time ago there lived a wicked fox in the forest. In the evening time as Master Fox was taking his usual stroll in the woods, he saw a number of Pheasants perched quite out of his reach on a limb of a tall, old tree. He drooled and could not control himself; for he was very cunning and wanted to eat all of them. Soon after, he got an idea. He found a bright patch of moonlight where the Pheasants could see him clearly, raised on his hind legs and began to dance.

At first, he twisted round and round like a top, then he jumped up and down, cutting all sorts of strange capers. The Pheasants looked at the Fox giddily, and could hardly even think of blinking their eyes. They did not want to miss any of his moves, for the Fox captivated their attention and they could not take their eyes off him. Next the Fox pretended he was climbing a tree and then fell over, laying still; playing as a dead creature. But in no time, he immediately jumped up on all fours – his back in the air, his bushy tail shaking so that it seemed to throw out silver sparks in the moonlight – all of this part of his performance.

By this time the poor Pheasant’s heads were in a whirl; heads whirling so badly that if they had to focus on the Fox again they knew they would fall. But the Fox was aware of this, so he began his performance all over again. As expected, they became so dazed that they lost all of their control on the limb and fell down one by one to the Fox. Without hesitating to think even once, the Fox pounced on them and ate them all, enjoying his nightly feast immensely.

The moral of the story? Too much attention to danger may cause us to fall victims to it. This is all that is left to remind us of that stark truth, and the fate that befell those enthralled pheasants that fine evening.

This cache is part of the 2019 Fantastic Unbelievable Nonsense Geocoin Challenge where everything is made up and the points don't matter. If it's been FUN, it probably happened in Spokane like that time with the turtles. Yep, turtles. Remember, that upon your successful completion of the FUN Geocoin Challenge you will be rewarded with a trackable Geocoin, but you may need to be patient for delivery because of the, you know,...turtles. But they sure are fun!
  • All caches begin with the series name FUN: followed by a snazzy name so they are easy to search. We also made a FUN Bookmark of the caches.
  • To qualify for a Geocoin, find the code word or stamp in each geocache and record it on your passport.
