Geocache Description:

This initial coordinates on this hill marks the western corner of the national triangle - part of the geometric foundation for Canberra’s design - you will learn more about if you go and do the associated Adventure Lab.

Either do the associated Adventure Lab "Looking at Canberra"to get the final coordinates for this cache or do it as a three stage multi cache.

Multi Cache: There is no need to go to the initial coordinates. From the starting coordinates project 2888 m in 286.6 degree to get to the first waypoint. (If your GPS can only project full degrees do 2880m in 286 degrees and subtract 15 from the south decimals)

This projection should lead you to the summit of Black Mountain. Answer the following questions to get the coordinates for the final location. Look at the Black Mountain round summit marker for the distance to all the other place you visit in the Adventure Lab.

Mt. Ainslie A.BC km

Mt. Pleasant D km

Regatta Point Exhibition E.F km

Parliament House G.H km

GZ is at S 35° 16. (A) (B-D) (A-C) ' E 149° 5. (E+F) (C+H) (B)'.

Adventure Lab: As mentioned above, alternatively to doing this as a multi cache you can download the Geocaching Adventure Lab app for your phone. When you open the app it will display the closest adventures. You will need to choose the "Looking at Canberra" Adventure Lab cache. The Adventure Lab Caches are like Mega Event Lab Caches in that you will receive one Lab Cache Find at each location!

The "Looking at Canberra" Adventure Lab will take you to different vantage points of our capital. Looking from the hilltops and at the displays in the Capital Exhibition will reveal the large scale planning that was conducted for the city— how government, military, business districts and housing suburbs are placed within the former Limestone Plains landscape according to Griffin's grand plan for the new nation's capital 100 years ago.

This Adventure will take you to 5 locations - each location will require a question to be answered to get the Lab Cache Find. You can do as many or as few of the 5 locations of the "Looking at Canberra" Adventure as you want and you can do them in any order you want. At some locations you will receive coordinates for bonus mystery/multi caches when you answer the question. Like the coordinates for this cache which you recive when doing the AL stage on Black Mountain, then you need to go and sign the logbook as per usual to claim the cache find.

Enjoy the views and history along these places that follow Canberra Tracks #3.
