The Camera Cache is hidden on public park land in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. You could drive almost right to it, but if it's a nice day, I'd encourage you to park near the entrance and enjoy the 5 minute walk to the hiding place. The cache is hidden at the north end of the park. Go north onto the dirt road lined with oak trees on either side. Look for the stone wall at the edge of the woods. Follow the stone wall 18 paces west from where it begins at the edge of the dirt road by the entrance to the forest. The cache, an olive green military ammunition container, is concealed within the stone wall. It is very well hidden, and you'll have to move a couple of rocks to get at it. (Make sure you hide it as well as you found it!) There's a break in the brush in front of the wall near the cache. I placed a crushed Schlitz beer can on the stone the cache is hidden behind, but I can't guarantee it will be there when you arrive.) There is a point-and-shoot camera in the cache, please don't take it, but use it to take your photograph. Just make sure you turn the camera off to preserve the battery for the next person who finds it.
I put a bunch of prizes in there: a blank cassette tape, pez dispenser, 49mm lens cap, a roll of APS film, and several other items. Happy hunting! Update 12/21/01 - Checked on the cache, it was getting pretty full of stuff people had left, so I removed some of the items. (Left the good stuff.) Removed the dessicant pack, which was saturated and messy.
Update 08/24/04 - Visited cache tonight to check up on it and replace the log book. Cleaned out everything. (Lots of toy cars and squirt guns.) Took full camera, will replace with new disposable at some point.
-Ethan 02/12/2009 - Okay, I'll take a look at this and see about replacing the cache container. It'll be in the original location. I'm not interested in moving it from the location where it's resided for the past 8 years. -Ethan
***NOTE*** The original green steel ammo can has been replaced by a plastic jar. No idea what happened to the original container.
