Geocache Description:

For this Letterbox cache, proceed to the the posted coordinates where you should see two posts off the right side of the path. Looking past them and down the trail you should see a bench, proceed down the path towards it. As you approach the bench, a decision will need to be made. A large rock sits to one side of the bench; the path with the rock is the correct option to take. Proceed down the path passing another bench, and a little while further, another.

Pressing on further you should begin to enter an area of decline, a bend, and then another decline. You will eventually come to an area where the tree cover begins to break. As it does, you should see two more wooden posts the exact same as how your journey started, except on the opposite side of the path. Standing between the posts you should see a gnarly dead tree straight ahead, a lonely tree off to your 10:00, and a large tree up a small incline off to your 3:00. The prize you seek is tucked nicely out of sight under the tree of these three which is the closest distance from you. Please watch your footing as you make the find, and be sure to tuck the cache back the way you found it. Please watch your footing, especially if the ground is wet.

[2015 series / Michigan Waterfalls]
An easily visited roadside waterfall, that waterfall is far more interesting than it first appears. A nice stop if you are headed to or from Copper Harbor.

Jacob's Falls is located 4 miles east of Eagle River on MI-26. At first glance this is a simple roadside waterfall. There is a pull over on the northside of the road from where you can get a nice view of the 20 foot slide. It is a scenic falls and well worth the stop to see it.

The falls visible from the road is just the last of a series of drops on Jacobs Creek. The creek drops 200 feet in less than a quarter mile before reaching Lake Superior. Just above the last drop is another slide and above that is 5' drop.

A steep trail climbs along the rim of the gorge that lets you get nice views of the next two drops. More drops are visible above that, but the views are obscured. It is also possible to clamber up the gorge itself, which is what you would have to do if you really wanted to explore all the possible falls on Jacobs Creek.

The Jampot is just 100 yards up the road from the falls and is well known for their jams, chocolates and muffins. It is run by the monks from a nearby monastery.
