One of 26 geocaches along the Watercress Way trail which uses the disused railway lines ( Mid-Hants /Watercress Line and the Didcot-Newbury-Southampton line) and historic rights of way including droves used for centuries for livestock herding . The trail follows two of internationally remowned chalk streams the River Itchen and the River Dever, and passes through beautiful chalk downland and forests . Imagine the pounding of the steam and diesel trains at this point between 1885-1964, taking agricultural goods including watercress, passengers and troops and equipment during WW1 and 2.It was no match for road transport however. Now Worthy Down Halt old sidings and platforms are perhaps more famed for their plants such as liquorice and animals including dormice.
