Fortica hill overlooks the city of Mostar and it is positioned to East/North-East above the city. Fortica is a home of many different adventurous and recreational activities from hiking, climbing, mountain biking, to the longest zipline in the whole country (570m long). During the Austro-Hungarian era, on the cliff called Stolac which rises in the middle of the hill, military barracks were built and throughout the history of the city, the hill held an important and strategic role in its defense and protection. The road that goes over takes you to one of the biggest mountains in the region, mountain Velež. Fortica is one of the places where locals go for recreational walks, hikes, runs and just relaxing time. It is a must if you are spending some time in Mostar. It is perfect for taking beautiful panoramic pictures of the city. Tip: Go and watch sunset there.
