Geocache Description:

After 4 years logging finds with my mum I finally have my own account, cache and travelbug. (Mum is helping me look after this cache).

The Herdwick is a native breed of sheep in the Lake District. The name Herdwick is taken from the Old Norse herdvyke meaning sheep pasture.

A famous owner of this breed was Beatrix Potter who won lots of prizes at local shows for her Herdwick ewes.

From Herdy Hill you can look down the Kent Estuary towards Arnside and on a clear day you can see the Ashton Memorial (Butterfly House) at Lancaster.

I hope you spot some of the local Herdy in some of the surrounding fields.

Please take care to hide carefully again - thank you.
