Rainer Maria Rilke, a German Language lyrical poet of the early 20th century, stayed in Duino Castle between October 1911 and May 1912, the guest of Princess Marie of Thurn und Taxis. There, in 1912, he began the poem cycle called the Duino Elegies (Duineser Elegien).

This is the first of a series of "poetic caches" placed along the "Sentiero Rilke" to draw geocachers to this amazing scenic walk, while at the same time celebrating the poetry of Rilke.

The second stanza of this poem reads in English translation "Timeless sea breezes, that for aeons have blown ancient rocks" and it could be about this place overlooking the Sistiana harbour even though it was written in Capri.

La seconda strofa di questo poema recita nella traduzione italiana "Fuori dal tempo tu sei, brezza di mare; per eoni hai sfinito l’antica roccia possente," e potrebbero trattare di questo posto sopra il porto di Sistiana, anche se infatti era scritta in Capri.
