You must successfully complete the “Challenge” prior to logging a “Find” on the final cache. Finds on this cache, which do not have documentation of completing the Challenge will be deleted. Read the entire cache page before attempting this challenge.
We had completed our goal of caching in 50 states, and getting at least 20 caches in each state, then we happened onto a challenge which required finding 5 cache types in 5 different states. It took us a while to figure out if we qualified (we did), but prompted us to start a spreadsheet of the types of caches we have found in each state. We then started trying to fill the empty spots in our spread sheet, by looking for our missing cache types as we returned to states (filling in missing counties).
The Challenge is to find at least 7 cache types in 10 different states, provinces or international regions. Most cache types allowed by Geocaching will count, however Lab Caches may not be used. Each of the different types of events (Event, Mega Event, CITO, Block Party) can be counted separately.
Note: Final cache is a P&G – Terrain rating is based on distance you must travel to achieve finding the minimum 50 caches to complete this challenge.
For those folks who care about such things we now have found 7 cache types in 42 states plus 6 international regions.
We don’t want anyone to strike out and DNF on the final after accomplishing the challenge. If you contact us when you are coming to attempt final, we can verify cache is present and maybe even join you to celebrate completing this difficult challenge.
