Knightswood was once a rural area of Dunbartonshire with an economy dominated by farming, small-scale mining and brickmaking. Most physical evidence of this history has now been lost, however, as Glasgow Corporation purchased the land from Summerlee Iron Company in the 1920's and used it for a post-war housing development. Low density cottages and four in a block flats made up the bulk of the housing stock, set in their own gardens and arranged along wide avenues and crescents. Knightswood Park was laid out at around the same time.

The park contains a lake, model boat club, children's playground, bowling green, tennis courts, running track, pitch-and-put course, grasslands and a small stream - Garscadden Burn. The area of green land just south of the park contains an outdoors gym, multi-games court and the new Glasgow BMX Centre, built for the 2018 European Championships.
Please bring your own tweezers and pen to sign the log and be careful to replace the container exactly as it was found. The cache is easily accessed from the nearby entrance on Bassett Avenue where plentiful on-street parking is available. The adjacent footpath is very popular with dog walkers so please be careful before approaching GZ.
