Norton Disney is the seat of the Disney family, the name an Anglicised version of the original French surname d'Isigny, of Isigny-sur-Mer, Normandy, from whom film producer Walt Disney's family might be descended.
Walt Disney is descended from the d'Isigny family of Norton Disney and visited the village in July 1949 to search for clues as to his families heritage. Newspaper cuttings of the visit survive in the village pub.
If anybody would like to expand the Village Sign Series, please do. I would ask that you let Smokeypugs know first at www.villagesignseries.co.uk so they can keep track of the Village Sign numbers and names to avoid duplication.
