The Western-style building (Ijinkan), built as a German trade house in 1904 (Meiji 37), features a solid brick exterior and a weathercock on the roof.
It is a typical building of the Ijinkan in Kobe.
1904年（明治37年）にドイツ人貿易商の住宅として建てられた西洋館（異人館）で、重厚な煉瓦造りの外観と、屋根上の風見鶏を特徴とする。
神戸をイメージする異人館の中でも、代表的な建物です。
