Many TV fans are aware of the show Parks and Rec, a show about an ambitious government official who bands together with disgruntled citizens to turn an ugly pit into a city park. However none of the articles about this show indicate what inspired the plot line. The Pit has long an eyeso....erm landmark in the city of Spokane.

When showrunners approached the City of Spokane for filming, they found former councilwoman Ivanna Heidit had moved away to a small town in Indiana. When they went to interview her and buy the rights to her story, they fell in love with the picturesque town here was even still a pit there for filming. So, Spokane didn't become sitcom-famous, but at least we have a park instead of a pit!

This cache is part of the 2019 Fantastic Unbelievable Nonsense Geocoin Challenge where everything is made up and the points don't matter. If it's been FUN, it probably happened in Spokane.
