The Kasugayama castle is said to be a huge and strong impregnable and to be one of Japanese five biggest mountain castle. And the name of the castle is well known as Kenshin Uesugi’s residence castle. A lot of Kuruwa in the castle was guarded by many Karabori and Dorui surrounded by natural lay of the land and construction. A lot of forts in the mountain around Kasugayama castle were built and they kept the function as the total bigger castle. Such structures express the characteristics as a mountain castle in the age of civil strife well. From Honmaru of the Kasugayama castle which is 180m above sea level we can overlook Japan sea, Kubiki plain and mountains surrounding them and can enjoy a superb view.
春日山城は巨大かつ堅固な難攻不落の名城で、日本五大山城の一つと言われています。
また、戦国武将上杉謙信の居城としてもその名を知られています。
春日山城は自然の地形と土木工事によって巡らせた空堀や土塁などによって多くの曲輪（くるわ）を守っていました。
また、春日山城の周辺の山々には多くの砦(とりで)を築いて、全体でより大きな城としての機能を持たせていました。こうした城のつくりは戦国時代の山城としての特徴をよく表しています。
標高180mの春日山城本丸跡からは、日本海や頚城（くびき）平野、それを取り巻く山並みが一望でき、絶景を楽しむことが出来ます。
