Geocache Description:

Lost Barran is the original walking track to Lady Barran Falls in Mt Field National Park.

Those locals who would be old enough to remember it, would have travelled it to the Lady Barran Falls back in the day, it’s was a flatter and easier track than the current alternative track that was built to access the falls.

This  track was closed several years ago after severe storms damaged the first section  of the it, and nature is slowly reclaiming  it back. Sections of board walk still remain intact, and with a keen experienced eye, the track is easy to see. The original track meets back up where the stairs of the new track entrance meet onto the original track at the bottom of a steep hill. It follows the beautiful Tyenna River, before running beside Lady Barran Creek.

I don’t recommend anyone use this  track to access the falls as it’s closed, but experienced bush walkers would have no problems traversing it at all. I use it each time I visit the area, as I find it extremely easy compared to the alternate stairs and steep long hill on the new track, being the not so fit person that I am.

Cache is a bison tube located at the start of the old track entrance.
