The Ponderosa is the name of the farm I grew up on. My father was raised here and then a few years after he returned from Vietnam my parents moved here and started to farm the land. There’s a pine tree stump across the driveway from the cache location. It was a Ponderosa Pine. It was so tall that it was visible for miles away like a church steeple. Years after my family quit farming and sold the land, the tree had to be removed because it was too close to the power lines. Most of the old buildings have collapsed in recent years. The corn crib is being held up by all the trees that grew up around it. The house is standing but vandals removed most of the ground floor windows. Birds and critters have moved in and taken residence.
The geocache is located by the road ditch. Pull your vehicle into the driveway so you stay safe. The cache might not be winter friendly depending on the severity of the winter.
