I have always liked looking out for these barn quilts while out for a drive or caching along the back roads, it kind of makes the drive a little more pleasant in
HURON COUNTY.
The Fishers have a long history in Colborne Township, having first settled back in 1830's. They first found out about barn quilts from friends in the Rodney and Clachen area. Admiring quilts on there travels in the that area and being a quilter herself, they had decided to make one of their own. The lime green colour has special significance to the family and went from there. John Deere has been used on the farm for some time and so that green had to be used. Black and white complete the quilt.
IPM 2017 is where the barn quilt craze mainly started in Huron County as a contest.
Barn quilts originally started there roots in Ohio.
Barn quilts tell stories.
The proper size for a barn quilt is 8'x8'.
They draw motorists to our rural highways, roads that have many stories to tell.
