Situated in Wildwood, Lakewood Park is home to a variety of amenities. Traditionally, the lawns, trees and shrubs of Saskatoon's parks were intensively manicured. When Lakewood park was being developed, residents wanted to keep the aspen stands and natural areas. The city saw the benefit of retaining natural wetlands as a home for wildlife, as well as as natural drainage. Thus, Lakewood Park became the site of Saskatoon's first naturalized park.
