SAN GIOVANNI BATTISTA (la cesa granda)
La parrocchia di san Giovanni Battista in San Giovanni Lupatoto (nota anche come chiesa di San Giovanni Battista in Nativitate) , è una delle 4 parrocchie presenti nel comune. E’ la più vecchia del comune e risale in quanto parrocchia almeno al XIV secolo, quando alcuni cristiani di San Giovanni, allora chiamata Ca’ di Fontana ottennero di potersi costituire in parrocchia in maniera autonoma dalla chiesa madre di Villafranca oramai troppo distante. E’ anche la più numerosa comunità fino a qualche anno fa si era riusciti a contare i fedeli che si aggiravano sui 10.000.
L’attuale edificio della chiesa parrocchiale è stato costruito tra il 1765 ed il 1773 in stile neoclassico sullo stesso luogo in cui prima sorgeva una precedente chiesa. Contestualmente fu anche sopraelevato il campanile. La consacrazione venne impartita dal vescovo di Verona Giovanni Morosini nel 1775.
Nel 1832 l'abside fu ingrandita e , tra il 1910 ed il 1912, fu poi allungata a forma di croce latina, sul tetto troneggia una grande cupola. Infine, nel 1954 fu eseguito da Agostino Pegrassi l'affresco raffigurante i Quattro Evangelisti
Questa chiesa è anche chiamata la ‘Cesa Granda’ cioè la grande chiesa per distinguerla dalle altre chiese presenti nel territorio comunale.

SAN GIOVANNI BATTISTA
The parish of St. John the Baptist in San Giovanni Lupatoto (also known as the church of San Giovanni Battista in Nativitate), is one of the 4 parishes in the municipality. It is the oldest in the municipality and dates back as a parish at least to the fourteenth century, when some Christians of San Giovanni, then called Ca ’di Fontana, were able to establish themselves in the parish independently from the mother church of Villafranca now too far away. It is also the largest community, and until a few years ago it was possible to count the faithful who numbered about 10,000.
The current building of the parish church was built between 1765 and 1773 in a neoclassical style on the same site where a previous church once stood. At the same time the bell tower was also raised. The consecration was given by the bishop of Verona Giovanni Morosini in 1775.
In 1832 the apse was enlarged and, between 1910 and 1912, it was then extended to the shape of a Latin cross, a large dome dominates the roof. Finally, in 1954 Agostino Pegrassi painted the fresco depicting the Four Evangelists
