One of the best parts of geocaching is the people that you meet along the way. The hard part is when you lose one of those people, especially when it feels like it was much too soon.
The geo-community lost John (Tatanka49) in April 2019. I only met him a few times, but you only had to meet him once to know that he was one of the (really) good guys. He came to my Amazing Race 4 event and despite all of the obstacles he had to overcome in his life, I still felt like he could have run it....and probably won =)
John had over 4,000 finds (in 42 states and 14 countries) and 118 hides during his time playing this game. This cache is a tribute to him and one of the series of caches that he placed during that time.
The N78 and N79 both run to and from the Hicksville train station and head east towards Plainview. They run along Plainview Road and then Old Country Road as they both pass Plainview Hospital. At this point the routes diverge as the N79 continues east to Newtown Road. The N78 heads north on Manetto Hill Road towards Woodbury Road and Jericho Turnpike before ultimately winding up at the Walt Whitman Mall.
Along the part of the route that these buses share, you will find this cache. Just down the block from the Hicksville Fire Department and not too far from some legal parking, which is not available right by the cache for obvious reasons. Should be an easy grab for most and please use stealth due to the large amount of muggle activity in the area.
