Geocache Description:

Ayr is a town and locality in the Shire of Burdekin, Queensland, Australia. It is the centre of a sugarcane-growing region. In the 2016 census, Ayr had a population of 8,281 people

It is located 1,273 km (791 mi) from Brisbane, 88 km (55 mi) from Townsville and 290 km (180 mi) from Mackay

The town was established in 1882 and is believed to be named after the Scottish town of Ayr, the birthplace of Queensland PremierSir Thomas McIlwraith.

A number of notable people came from Ayr

The cache is located at a notable landmark in the CBD at the intersection of Queen and Edward streets. The Queen’s Hotel sits opposite on the corner making this a bit more difficult to find without drawing attention to yourself. Have fun.

Congratulations to Debomb7068 for getting the FTF
