When I first saw Webcam Caches I thought they were pretty funny.
You don't even need a GPS receiver to find them. Anyway, I decided
Calgary needed at least one Webcam Cache too.
The goal here is to log the cache by capturing an image of
yourself in front the webcam and then upload it with your log
description.
Take a look at the webcam with this URL:
http://www.patentfile.com/index.php?page=Webcam
The coordinates to this cache will put you in front of the
camera. Have someone with internet access ready to help capture the
image and then call them when you are at the location. The picture
can usually be captured from the browser by a right-click on the
picture then Save Picture As...
The image says it updates every 3 minutes, but you can hurry the
process up by re-loading the page.
Post the photo here to log the find.
To verify that you actually went to the location and claim your
find, stand facing the camera. It should be very obvious that the
Geocacher(s) are trying to get the webcam to take their picture. In
other words, posting a shot of people apparently strolling along
will not count - and will be deleted.
Make sure that the webcam is working before you travel there. As
with much of the internet, things go down for short periods of
time.
