Geocache Description:

Ever wonder why so many buildings/ areas in Lethbridge have the name "Galt" - Galt Gardens, Galt Hospital, Galt Historic Railway Park and Galt Museum? Elliott and his father Alexander Galt played an important role in developing Lethbridge. As you can see they were very community minded and many building that he helped establish do not bare their names.

Alexander was one of the Father's of Confederation of Canada. His son Elliott came west to the "North West Territories". At this location you will learn more about what they did in this area and you can even take a picture with them. Elliott developed the railway to Great Falls to transport coal and encouraged the use of irrigation to make the lands of southern Alberta suitable for growing crops
