Geocache Description:

============================================================

Changes 7/18/2023: Due to tree trimming we had to move the final to a new location. The wherigo has been updated to coincide with this change.

Changes 8/20/2021: We moved the final container location to protect valued foliage. The Wherigo cartridge has been updated accordingly.

Changes/Help 8/23/19: We did update the Wherigo today, so that the reward screen for getting to the proper zone shows up at the right time and we narrowed the event radius at the 4th event to help you narrow down the location of the final question's answer. FYI You can touch the red pin head on your map and then touch the blue and white information "i" to show the exact coordinates of that zone. Also, you may have to scroll some parts of your phone's screen to see all of the information or all of the question that is being presented.

============================================================

This Wherigo describes the true story of a five-year-old's unique adventure from Grangeville, ID to Lewiston, ID during the winter of 1914.
For those who already know how to do a Wherigo cartridge,
here is the Final Delivery Wherigo link.

=============The Story=============

On February 19, 1914, Charlotte May Pierstorff, just short of her 6th birthday, was "mailed" from her parents' home in Grangeville, Idaho to her grandparents' house about 73 miles away. Charlotte May is perhaps the most famous of the parcel post children from that era.

This Wherigo will take you to four waypoints and the final location along Charlotte May's journey, all within the city of Lewiston. The distances between the waypoints is best covered using a vehicle. At each waypoint, you will be asked a multiple-choice question about Charlotte May's adventure.

The first two waypoint questions require you to just guess-and-check your answer, as there is no answer at these locations.

The answers to the 3rd and 4th waypoint questions can be found at the locations.

For all 4 questions your first guess will be rewarded with either the next destination or a substantial clue for your 2nd guess.

Please replace the cache container as you found it. BYOP!

=============Wherigo: How-To Section=============
1. If you haven't done a Wherigo before, you will need a device that can play a Wherigo Cartridge. Some GPS receivers and most cell phones will play a Wherigo Cartridge, once you download and install the Wherigo Player. Here is a link to the Wherigo Player web page.
Choose "Download Player For Pocket PC", if you are installing the Player onto your cell phone.

NOTE: You may have to log into the Wherigo site to get the Wherigo Player, but you can use your geocaching username and password to do so, as the Wherigo website is operated by Groundspeak.
BTW, Groundspeak is the owner of Wherigo.com, Geocaching.com and Waymarking.com.
You may also be asked to allow a connection to be established between the two sites, Geocaching.com and Wherigo.com. Do that. You can terminate the link in your geocaching profile after you finish the Wherigo, if you choose.

2. You will need to use this link, or the one at the top of the cache description, to download the "Final Delivery" Wherigo Cartridge to your device.
When deciding which type of cartridge to download from the pull down menu, most cell phones will work with the choice "Pocket PC Device".

-------------Temperamental Wherigo Players and Cartridges and What To Do with Them-------------

1. It may take a minute for the Wherigo locator to catch up with your actual location, especially if you are zooming around in a car, so as you approach a zone slow down and then pause at what you think to be the zone's location and see if the cartridge triggers the next event (picture, question, text). You should get a response from the cartridge in under a minute... but if not, see note #2.

2. Sometimes you can be in a zone and the next event doesn't get triggered. In this case, you may have to exit the Zone and then re-enter it.
