Subject: inappropriately placed cache - next to busy airport and runway
Date: Mon, 11 Jul 2005 14:36:24 -0000

Hi,
My name is Brant Ashley. I am a Network Specialist with the Town of Ocean
City, MD. We have received some reports of a "hidden cache" located just
off one of our city Airport runways. While we have no problem with your
website, or the service that it provides, we do not want to have any of
your people, or our people, hurt or killed while wondering on or near the
runways. After a little seaching, we found these details about the cache
from your web site:

Missing Spike

N 38? 18.623 W 075? 07.075
UTM: 18S E 489691 N 4240260

In the description of this site, you will clearly see pictures of airplanes and one with the base of a building in it. I have been asked by our Public Works director if we can somehow remove this cache very soon so noone goes wondering on the runway at night and gets hit.

If you have any questions, please call me: Brant Ashley at 410-520-5425. I will be in and out of my office between 830am and 500pm EST, Monday through Friday. If I am not here, please leave a message and I will return your call when I get back. If you need more information or an official
letter from the Town of Ocean City, please let me know who to send it to and I will get it there before someone gets hurt.

Thanks for your timely help in this matter.

Geocache Description:

This should be a rather easy cache to find. All you have to watch out for are things that could make you duck. Think "Red Baron".

The name of this cache came about when my wife and I joined our in-laws for a weeks vacation in Ocean City, Md. We had to leave their dog Spike back home in Warrington, Pa. to be watched by a neighbors child. We all love and miss this great dog so there is the reason for the name. The above coordinates will place you at a blue tank. With your back to the tank, walk to bearing 080 until you almost go through the stand of trees. Just before you enter the tall marsh grass turn around and find the pine tree that was originally marked by me but the mark might have grown over (look for the normal "sticks over disturbed dirt". Dig down about an inch and you will find the cache. There is the normal stuff in the cache plus the Travel Bug "Little Green Turtle".
