Nach Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs ist Berlin das Eldorado der Geheimdienste. Die alliierten Besatzungsmächte liefern sich hier ein Duell der Informationen. Berlin bietet ideale Arbeitsbedingungen für die Geheimdienste, denn nur hier stehen sich Ost und West direkt gegenüber. Einige Orte werden zum Mythos und prägen den Ruf Berlins als Spionagestadt.

Der wichtigste Horchposten der US-Amerikaner im Kalten Krieg ist die Abhörstation auf dem Teufelsberg in West-Berlin. Die Geheimdienste, u.a. des Ministeriums für Staatssicherheit, haben ihre Spitzel überall in der Stadt. Ab und zu tummeln sich Spione in den eigene Reihen. Bis zum Fall der Mauer 1989 tobt der Agentenkrieg zwischen Ost und West und festigt in all den Jahren Berlins Ruf als Hauptstadt der Spione.

The most important listening post of the Americans in the Cold War is the listening station on the Teufelsberg in West Berlin. The secret services, i.a. the Ministerium für Staatssicherheit (GDR - Ministry of State Security), have their spies all over the city. From time to time, there are double agents in their own organisations. Until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the war of agents raged between East and West, consolidating Berlin's reputation as the capital of spies over the years.
